A collection of all of my rants and ramblings about the television shows I watch and the people who make them. There will also be the occasional post about my life. =D

Community Rewatch- 2x16, 2x17, & 2x18

It is pouring here, guys. A good day for blogging, no? I plan on finishing season 2 today, but let's see how distracted I get by babysitting and the Olympics before I fully make that claim haha. Alrighty then. Here we go!

2x16- Intermediate Documentary Filmmaking

Episode Rundown- This episode is fabulous. It's a look at how Community would be if it was shot like Modern Family or any of those other multi-camera shows. So basically, it's Community at its laziest. =P So it's the aftermath of Pierce's overdose and the whole episode centers around Pierce trying to avenge himself by giving the group ridiculous gifts that have a price. Abed is excused from this because he's the filmmaker, but Shirley receives a CD of the group allegedly talking smack about her behind her back, Annie gets a tiara, Britta receives a blank check for $2000 or some outrageous amount, Troy gets a visit from his idol LeVar Burton, and Jeff has to tackle the idea of possibly seeing his father again. The episode is absolutely hysterical and the tag does not disappoint either- Troy and LeVar, having dinner. Fantastic.

What Was Great
~ Absolutely everything. Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt. (Catch the reference?)

What Wasn't So Great
~ Zero. Zilch. Nada. Nothing. =D

Rating
A spectacular, fabulous, magnificent ten out of ten. ;)

2x17- Intro to Political Science

Episode Rundown- So I'm not a huge fan of this episode for two reasons- anything that has to do with political science irritates me and it's a huge Jeff/Annie episode. Blegh. Other than that, it's not too bad... =P Supposedly Vice President Biden is going to visit the school, so the Dean stages a school-wide presidential campaign in which Annie- as well as Magnitude, Vicki, Starburns, Leonard, Garrett, and even Pierce- runs. Jeff thinks it's stupid and enters the competition just to spite her. Meh. Abed and Troy are the announcers (?) for the campaign with the most hilarious commentary ever. Also, Abed has a short-lived romance-kinda- with a Secret Service agent, which is adorable in an Abed sort of way. And then the ending tag is Abed and his agent on a "date"- she's watching him from the car. Ooookay...

What Was Great
~ "Ab Mentions," "Classic Wingers," and "Notches." Classic.
~ "He's visiting our school as part of his 'Biden Time talking about teaching tour!" "Hmm, folksy, yet progressive." "He does walk that line!"
~ "EVERYONE WANTS YOU TO SHUT UP." "And yet I won't! Case in point."
~ The Pierce and Vicki storyline. Hilarious.
~ "No matter what you're told, we have to clean the mold!"
~ "I believe that citizenkind need not be governed!"
~ Jeff's Real World video. So, so funny.
~ Troy and Abed's commentary. Absolutely hysterical.

What Wasn't So Great
~ Never mix television with politics or religion. Just causes trouble. =P
~ The Jeff/Annie-ness. Meh.
~ The lack of Shirley and Britta. They were just missing.

Rating
I would give this episode a seven out of ten. Some of it was hilarious. Most of it wasn't. =P

2x18- Custody Laws and Eastern European Diplomacy

Episode Rundown- This episode isn't my favorite, but I don't hate it like the rest of the fandom. Everyone seems to think it's the worst episode not only of the second season, but of the entire show's history. I think that's a bit harsh, but you decide. =P So Troy and Abed befriend this accent-ridden guy named Lukka (Why is it spelled with two k's? You tell me...) and tell Britta she's not allowed to date him, but she of course doesn't mind them and goes out with him anyway. Then she learns he's partly responsible for the mass genocide in the Balkans. Uh oh. She tells Abed and Troy, who don't want to hear it because she's already ruined so many of their guy friends. Eh, you can't win 'em all, Perry. Meanwhile, Shirley asks Jeff to convince Chang to sign over his hypothetical baby to Andre and Shirley and drama ensues. Jeff ends up jailed, but everything works out okay in the end. The tag happens to be the entire group distracted by their electronics and not speaking a word to each other. It sounds lame, but it's hilarious.

What Was Great
~ "Can I get a Ni Hao in this hizzy?" Ohhhh Dean Pelton <3
~ "We like him a lot, so you're not allowed to bone him." "You just guaranteed she'll bone him."
~ "Like Britta-ny Spears?" "Exactly like Britney Spears! Hit me with your genie's bottle! Rub it all over meeeee..." Oh my god. So funny.
~ "Jeff? I ruined Jeff?" "Oh, you mean Jeff 'Nipple-Play' Winger? No! As you can see, we're still hanging out with him! Hi, how's it going, Jeff?"
~ "You're not allowed." "Not allowed?" "You'll ruin him." "I'll ruin him?" "Stop repeating." "Stop rep-rimanding me and explain how I'll ruin him!"
~ "Aren't you like his mentor?" "Not cool, Shirley." "You have a rapport with him!" "Not cool, Shirley!"
~ "God bless you!" "Not lately."
~ "Oh look, is that a reason to leave?" Classic.
~ The tag. Pretty funny, I thought.

What Wasn't So Great
~ Way too much freaking Chang. Ugh.
~ Lukka. He was unattractive and he was a psychopathic killer. I do not see your interest, Britta.
~ The episode in general. I didn't hate it, but I could never hate it!

Rating
I would also give this episode a seven out of ten. It's good, but not great.

More asap!
